What a week! We left on Thursday night for California to see Jim's sister Debbie give her homecoming talk. We drove through the night and made it in early Friday morning. Before we left Utah, we stopped to visit Grandma Challis and also to run a few errands. Altogether though we didn't make it out until about nine o'clock that night! Ugh--not a lot of fun.
We spent Thursday with the Higham family at the lake swimming, relaxing and playing volleyball. Friday was the beach and Monday we hit up the pool. A perfect California trip! On Sunday we went to hear Debbie speak. She did such a good job. All of these days were full of fun, family, and good food!

On Sunday the Penrods came back from their Church History trip back east, and so we were able to spend some time with them in the second half of our trip. They were so nice and let us stay at their house while they were gone. It was great! We also met back up with the Highams for a fondue night and an evening reliving some of the funny stories and quotes from the family members. It was so funny :). Thank you Doug and Liz!

So we spent a few days relaxing with my family, and even extended our vacation an extra day because we were having such a great time. Tori was a champ and had a lot of fun getting to know her cousins better (and being doted on by her aunts and uncles and grandparents!). We drove back on Wednesday and have been slowly recovering ever since. What a great vacation!
